If you’re a Mac user and love to toddle around lines and splines in AutoCAD, you’ll be freezing and unfreezing your layers in frantic excitement today. AutoCAD for Mac is back. You’ve likely felt the screen-shifting vibrations from the Autodesk marketing machine over the past two weeks. All to build up for the reveal over the facewaves of their Facebook facecast. That’s a lot of face. Let’s see what Autodesk is dishin’ out.

What’s more fun than a barrel of charred monkey pelts? A barrel of super simple concept car design in SolidWorks. Or in this case, a video of super simple car design in SolidWorks. Tony Suarez created a car modeling video to shock and stun surface modelers a while back. Now, he’s back with surfaces to show a super simple approach to conceptualizing a car with SolidWorks. The video is a bit fast-paced, but it’s got just the right amount of information to get you going on your own.

You know that burning sensation, the one where you dump crunchy granules of fertilizer all over yourself after the spreader explodes? Yeah, that one. What to do? You’re stuck because you want to finish feeding the nitrogen-depleted grass blades, but can’t. Your afternoon plans have been foiled yet again. Well, there’s no better time to dust off that ol’ 3D printer catalog and start looking for some plastic-layering power to make sure that this never. happens. AGAIN.

Autodesk has had a near endless stream of announcements for the past several weeks… and it isn’t over. Next week, they’re launching… I don’t really care what they launch. I just like this teaser graphic they put out. Reminds me of Mortal Kombat for some reason. Red and Black, Blood and Glory… or something. Maybe it’s the large stylized typeface or how they cleverly blend 8.16 into DESIGN… Clever, I tell ya. So, they’re announcing something for AutoCAD, something BIG, via a Facecast (not fascist) on the DESIGN8.16 Facebook app. Some “exciting new tools for design.”

What’s your guess? Here’s mine.

I tell ya, there’s nothing quite like viewing the inside of well design gadget. Not because it makes me feel like peeling back my own flesh to see if it looks similar, but because it shows exactly how much design and redesign went into it. The HTC Evo 4G is just such a device. It’s no surprise it is HTC’s best selling phone ever. The size, shape and feel are just about perfect in every way. Donn Koh, lead designer on the project is largely responsible for it’s beauty. Now, forget the fact that I went from Sprint store to Sprint store till being kicked out for taking pictures with it like a hand model and feast your eyes upon one the most gorgeous smartphones designs of modern mobile history.
