Full Review:

The Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet is one of the items we tried for the best skillet roundup. It didn’t reach the top, but it has something that could entice some: it is a purely American-made skillet.

Tramontina Simple Cooking Skillet
Tramontina Simple Cooking Skillet

Indeed, the Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet is assembled and packed in the USA, unlike most models out there. This can be an excellent option for those who love US-made products. Nonetheless, it isn’t the only thing it can offer: it also flaunts a classic cookware style.

sizes and colors of Tramontina Simple Cooking Skillet
The Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet is available in 5 colors and three sizes.

Besides being available in three sizes (8, 10, and 12 inches), the Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet also has five earth-tone colors available. You can choose from spice red, teal, oyster, truffle, and plum, which will allow you to match the skillets to your existing cookware collection. Their exterior comes with a porcelain enamel coat, making them resistant to chips and scratches.

durability of Tramontina Simple Cooking Skillet
The Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet is durable, thanks to its heavy-gauge aluminum construction.

The body of the Tramontina Simple Cooking skillets sports a heavy-gauge aluminum construction, making it extra-durable and resistant to bents. They also have soft, stay-cool padded handles to assure 100% comfort when held. Generally, it felt solid in hand during our test, and we loved the great control it offered even when we were using it for stir-frying.

build of Tramontina Simple Cooking Skillet
The cooking surface of the Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet sports a PFOA-free ivory white nonstick layer, while its exterior has a porcelain enamel coat.

On the other hand, the PFOA-free ivory white nonstick interior worked as intended. It released everything we cooked quickly without the use of oil. We also seared two slices of streak simultaneously, and it browned everything perfectly. And while it managed to spread the heat evenly when used on gas cooktops, it didn’t do great on an electric one. It is also incompatible with induction stoves, but it is tough enough to bear up to 350°F of heat in the oven.

The Tramontina Simple Cooking skillet is also dishwasher safe. However, you might want to consider hand-washing since it is not stain-resistant, as we’ve experienced in our test. There are also rivets to clean, which can somehow be strenuous.
