I don’t know what you do with all your all CPU towers. Me? Oh, I’ve made a throne. Think Iron Throne, but with CPUs. However, I made a bet with a 105 year old hermit selling cabbages near the park, that 2017 is the year when the traditionally large, bulky multi-bay, power-pumping CPU tower would shrink to the size of a pickle. He didn’t believe me and charged me twice as much for that cabbage, but with Lenovo’s latest entry into the ThinkStation P-Series family, I’ve proved that old man wrong.
ThinkStation P320 Tiny Overview
The ThinkStation P320 Tiny SFF Workstation packs a great combo of power you’d find across the P-Series ThinkPad laptops and larger ThinkStation desktop computers in a package with a 1.4″ x 7.1″ footprint. In it you have up to 32Gb of RAM and 2TB of SSD Storage. You won’t have the bays to expand that drive space or memory, but with what you can pack in already, you may not ever need to. The system also supports up to six independent displays and comes with ISV certification for 3D software from Autodesk, Dassault, PTC, AVEVA, Bentley, Nemetschek, and Siemens PLM.
“The ThinkStation P320 Tiny makes full use of tight spaces and delivers on the power expected from a workstation. Easy to set up and compatible with Lenovo’s ThinkCentre Tiny accessories, the P320 Tiny harnesses the power of the latest Intel® Core i processors and relies on NVIDIA® Quadro® Graphics to achieve ISV certification to deliver the performance demanded across a range of professional applications.”

Lenovo has several other ‘Tiny’ products in their ThinkCentre M-series that served as the inspiration (and used the same pencil in the photshoots), but this is the first ‘Tiny’ P-Series Workstation class rig able to house the CPU/GPU combo and components it does for entry level 3D processing power. This is capable of using the ThinkCentre Tiny accessories, so if you want this wee little rig completely out of the way, you can purchase a bracket to mount it on the back of your monitor or under your desk.
As it so happens, Project H, (covered previously here), has been using the P320 Tiny with great results, allowing them to get on with projects like the Girls Garage, which brings young girls the opportunity to explore design and engineering technology and build their skills. You can read more about their mission here.
