There’s a multi-touch rash starting to spread across the butt-checks of CAD that no penetrating ointment will cure. So, when SolidWorks demonstrated their future platform independent MCAD platform it was no surprise to see some multi-touch features thrown into the mix.

However, what’s supremely interesting is not the multi-touch, but the device being multi-touched. It’s what we thought looked very much like a Wacom 21UX Cintiq. EXACTLY like one, except one major difference. It had both stylus and those fancy multi-touch capabilities.

So, after quite a bit of digging and verifying through a few channels what we suspected, it’s confirmed this is indeed a prototype Wacom Cintiq Multi-touch with a tentative retail appearance slated for Update Summer 2010 (this has been recanted by Wacom, however I will make the assertion that we will see this Q4 of 2010.) Here are the shots from the show.

Why it was only a month ago that Hypershot fans around the world were up in arms about the news of Bunkspeed losing the licensing for the tech behind Hypershot to it’s creators at Luxion. We knew but one thing, Luxion would be developing and launching a new release… shortly.

Well, shortly is here and today Luxion launches KeyShot. Keyshot builds on the product that was Hypershot, but brings in new features and a layer of speed that was missing from the ever-so popular Hypershot rendering program.

If you have seen or use Hypershot 2.0 you may be slightly disappointing as KeyShot currently matches the Hypershot 1.9 styling, but rest assure, there’s more development to come.

Last Week at SolidWorks World, I had a short sit down with Matthew West, master of social media computing at SolidWorks. We talked all about social media this and social crap crap that until everyone in the room around us was hugging and tweeting each other.

We didn’t get into it, but I know he’d probably agree with me that the number one, most important thing about rockin’ your brand from forums to Facebook, whether you’re a corporation or cab driver, is the profile image. If it doesn’t say rockin’ people won’t come a’knockin… or something.

So, I’ve done a new profile image up for Matt, created from a montage of images taken as he summoned all the musical angst and inspiration of his past. Rock on Matt.

Prepare to be smote with a clever play on words… nevermind, cause the headline already gave it away and saying it again would be so LAME.

There are only 7 other things that are more requested that the option to Dangle Children. My babies!!!!!! You may have seen them from some of the coverage of SolidWorks World 2010, but not like this, oh no, not like this. Here, we give you the reason behind the request… or the reason as best we can guess. Read on, and tell us which one you’d like to see.

Well, it’s happened. Someone at SolidWorks had a few too many no-doze with NOS chasers (and I’m almost positive) shot through the Concord office with fire spraying from their back screaming, LET’S GO DESIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGN!!!!!!!!! It was effective.

Starting last week, LetsgoDesign.tv is up and running. There’s not any actual video yet, but the tone is set I tell ya, and the boy droppin’ that tone is SolidWorks own Jeremy Luchini. He’s got the idea that you’ll submit an idea and the community will go through the process of making it happen. Sounds like a great idea to me.

It was kicked of with a related project SolidWorks was a part of late last year. An All-electric ’33 Hot Rod. The SolidWorks World attendees got a chance to kick the tires and have their dreams shattered of not being able to ever drive or own one. I did some diggin’ on the project. Here’s the juice.
