Project:
Absurd iPhone Accessory – Design the most absurd 3D-printable iPhone accessory and win a 2012 Makerbot Replicator worth $1,999! That’s right people: upload your ironic, backward, cynical, or comically self-defeating 3D designs in watertight STL format along with an image illustrating your masterpiece to thingiverse.com with the tag ‘EvD’. Accomplish this by no later than March 19th 2012, and you’ll have your entry posted on the EvD blog, an interview on the podcast, and a chance to win that two-color-spittin’ prize-of-prizes, the Makerbot Replicator.

Judging:
Entries will be judged by representatives from EvD and Makerbot Industries. Scoring will be based primarily on how hard we laugh when we see it.

  • A giant hexapod robot with the head shaped like a skull where you put your iPhone. It walks around creepily AND plays back your music through a speaker in it’s tummy. (Bre Pettis)
  • The iPhone soup ladle! Nothing says “I’m rich!” like ruining an iPhone for no reason by dunking it in a gently simmering pot of soup!! (Adam O’Hern)
