Instructables and Objet have joined forces to give you a challenge, the “Make it Real Challenge”. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to make a nice, user-friendly Instructable of how to make a virtual object a reality.

What’s an Instructable?

Making an Instructable involves describing how you made something. Sign up at Instructable.com, then share photos, a step-by-step or a how-to video. Your Instructable could be about how to design and CNC a simulation of water-droplets on wood, how to make a wooden lock or an Ironman Mask (complete with white LED eyes).

The Instructables with the highest number of votes are declared the winners is judged by a panel of judges who rank each entry to decide the winner (See the rules for more.) First prize is an Objet30 3D printer plus 6 months of free supplies. This is an industrial machine with an eye-watering 28 micron resolution, multiple materials, colours and a hefty 11.5 x 7.5 x 5.8 in (294×192.6×148.6 mm) print envelope. and a list price of $50,000 USD. Just think of what you could make with this machine. Additionally, PP3DP is giving away ten UP! 3D printers as the runner-up prize. A very respectable printer with 200-400 micron resolution and a 5.5 x 5.5 x 5.3 in (140x140x135 mm) print envelope.
