With the goal of creating a seamless user experience for the consumer 3D printer market, the Press includes a re-engineered internal setup that makes the user experience easier for those who might not have honed their Maker-chops tinkering on RepRaps and Arduino boards.

Starting with a redesigned filament guide aimed at reducing tangling, the Press also features a heated bed to reduce print warping and a new automated calibration system—SoliTouch—that eliminates the need to calibrate the print bed:

While the injection-molded and soft-edged Press is a new direction for the traditionally metal-framed Solidoodle 3D printers, it is also being released with two other 3D printers that Solidoodle has revamped for the current-day consumer 3D printer market.

The Workbench and Workbench Apprentice follow suit with the traditional metal frame design and offer options for those looking for larger or smaller print beds.

The Workbench can create objects up to 12″ x 12″ x 12″ while the Workbench Apprentice can create objects up to 6″ x 6″ x 8″. Both of the Workbench models feature dual extruders and heated print beds.
