Full Review:
If you are looking for a striking cookware addition in your kitchen, the KitchenAid 3-ply base stainless steel cookware set is a good choice. It is one of the best KitchenAid stainless steel cookware sets we’ve tried that will certainly charm you out of the box. And though it is also available in the 5-ply collection, we find the lower price of this 3-ply set a better choice. In our test, we also find the performance of the two almost identical.

The set comes with 1.5 and 3-quart saucepans with straining glass lids, a 6-quart stockpot with a glass lid, a 10.25-inch nonstick grill pan, an 8-inch frying pan, and a 9.5-inch frying pan with a lid. The bases of all the cookware pieces are made of alternating layers of stainless steel and aluminum for better heat conduction. Heat distribution was great in our test; however, (unlike the All-Clad D5 collection we tested alongside it) its 3-ply layer only covers the bases of the cookware. This leaves you with walls slightly thinner than the bottoms. Yet, the durability of the cookware still had decent scores in our test. The exterior of the cookware also has good scratch and stain resistance, while the interior has an incredibly smooth finish which can aid in the easy release of food. By properly keeping the frying pans at low to medium temperature, we were able to sear steaks and fish fillets perfectly. No sticking and tearing meat.

It is also a huge plus that the set includes a PFOA-free nonstick grill pan which can make your things easier. It even has ridges that will give your steak beautiful sear marks. The saucepans and stockpot, on the other hand, simmered sauces evenly. They also have etched measuring marks which will certainly be appreciated both by movies and experts.

We love the included tempered glass lids that can handle up to 350°F temperature in the oven. The lids of the saucepans even have built-in straining rims which remove the need for a colander. However, given the weight of the saucepans, our reviewers found it hard to drain the liquid out of the pan. We also had to hold the top handle to prevent the lid from accidentally slipping off. Thankfully, all the handles of the lids are oversized to allow easy use of thick potholders. And while we love how thick the glass lids are, we wish they had vent holes.
