The SolidSmack Cool Tools of Doom n’ Stuff is GO. This short video features some of the coolest finds we’ve discovered on the web this week.

This week we look at:

DESIGN

FiLIP – FiLIP is the world’s first smartwatch for kids. Featuring an integrated GPS locator and phone, the watch is designed to allow kids the freedom of exploration and discovery while staying in touch with mom and dad. We need to get you one of those Smoth. I’m 5082 years old. Check it out at MyFilip.com

Nokia Lumia 1020 – Thinking about ditching that old iPhone for something new? The soon-to-be-released Nokia Lumia 1020 is the answer for those looking to take better pictures with their smartphone. It features a 41-megapixel (!!) integrated camera and a ‘Pro Photo’ app that adds manual controls typically seen on DSLR cameras, this is sure to be a game changer. Comes out July 26th; check out more at Nokia.com. My eye can see in 41 megapixels. It’s just most of those pixels are the wrong color.

APPS

Google Maps – The latest update from Google in their mission to unify apps across platforms brings Google Maps to an all-new iPad interface and Android. With revamped navigation, traffic updates, and even indoor maps for exploring museums and shopping malls, you’ll never feel lost in the back corner of Macy’s again. Get it free on iTunes and Google Play.

Coffitivity – While certain research suggests that working in a coffeeshop can boost one’s productivity, you no longer have to buy a Venti Frappucino to get that coffeeshop-working experience. Coffitivity brings the sounds of a coffeeshop to you with their ambient sound player. Yes, skip the Frapuccino and save a trip at Coffitivity.com.

DIY

Crayola Marker Maker – There’s nothing quite like a new set of markers—especially when you’re a kid. SMELLS SO GOOD. The new Crayola Marker Maker is the all-in-one DIY marker factory that allows kids to create custom color combinations and load them up into parts used to create their own markers. And at $25, it’s the perfect way to create your own school supplies. Check it out at CrayolaStore.com

Modern Screwdriver Project – For the parents, this super-easy Modern Screwdriver Project is the perfect way to unify all those random screwdrivers you have laying around. Instructables user HomeMadeModern sourced a dozen screwdrivers from second-hand stores that are cleaned up, coated in Plasti-Dip, and hung from a modified standard table leg. Super cheap and looks good—-check it out at Instructables.com

ROCK AWESOMENESS

Sharknado – And now for our favorite ‘So Bad That It’s Good’ movie of the week….Sharknado is the edge-of-your-seat thrill ride being shown on SyFy. While not exactly aiming to be Oscar-worthy, it’s a good excuse to eat popcorn and laugh at a TORNADO OF SHARKS. Check out the air dates on SyFy.com.

Inside Jaws – And finally, if Sharknado didn’t scratch your itch for shark movies during the summertime, be sure to check out the free independent documentary on the making of JAWS from Filmumentaries. Yes, this free 2.5 hour film on Vimeo takes you behind the scenes of the 1975 movie that changed the life of beachgoers forever. Also be sure to check out their other free documentaries on Indiana Jones and Star Wars.
