First mask I ever made was a paper plate with a piece of yarn to strap it to my head. Never mind that it was done last night – I just upgraded and am currently wearing a paper bag with eye holes burned out with a lighter someone threw at me last week. Anyway, it looks pretty close to our model this week… minus a few detail.

I think everyone, including grandmas and oil company CEOs, has wanted a Stormtrooper mask at some point. You could drop some benjamins on an authenitic version, but what about making your own? 3D printing your own? Loyd Roberts makes all sorts of props and costumes. Prior to Episode 7, he posted a fully wearable Stormtrooper helmet.

He says:

This is the helmet from the new Star Wars VII Stormtrooper, made using Zbrush and Rhino with help from my good friend Ricardo Salomao. The helmet is part of a larger project to build an entire custom suit for U.S based tech Youtuber Barnacules Nerdgasm. The aim was to design the first ever fully wearble 3D printed Storm trooper suit for the new upcoming Movie: The Force Awakens.

It’s been around a while, so there are some great community prints, mods, photos, and comments on printing this helmet. And, Episode 8 comes out December 14th, which gives you a couple weeks to, at least, make a Stormtrooper helmet to wear while you stand in the movie line for five hours.

You can download the Storm Trooper Helmet on MyMiniFacatory.  (BONUS! Check out the Loyd’s Hammer of Sol from the Destiny franchise here!)
