This is the step before the final release and is intended to be used in a production environment to test for quality. If you’re going to use it in production, be sure to make back-ups of whatever you try it on or you may feel the warm chill of “what have I done”
If you did use beta, you may want to check the forums about the installation. Dave Heinemeyer got good results doing the following.
- Did not transfer license
- Un-install 08 Beta4 using add remove programs but did not clean registry
- Download only Pre-Release so files were located on local drive
- Install using Install Manager to a new individual installation
