Antelope Audio is known for the amazing quality they bring to studios around the world and now, they’re putting their clocking technology into a new DAC component named the Rubicon, a 384 kHz digital audio preamplifier which integrates the noise-crushing 10M Rubidium atomic clock.
There were rumors floating around about the acquisition of Google SketchUp. It was thought the buyer may be Dassault Systemes. SpaceClaim was even in there at one point. Turns out that the acquisition rumor was true, but speculation on the buyer? Waaaaaay off. Today, Trimble, producers of advanced location-based hardware and software, announced they have entered into an agreement with Google to acquire SketchUp, the 3D modeling platform previously acquired by Google from @Last software in March of 2006.
3D printing is growing fast. It’s rather amazing that something once considered a speciality item for engineering and design firms has now slipped into the consumer market in only a few years. STL files have been around for a while. It was originally developed as a bridge between CAD files and 3D Systems’ first 3D printers. It has become the standard format for 3D printing, but it’s increasingly seen as antiquated and limited. In reality, an STL file describes a shape and not much else. In addition, a complex shape can often make the file massive and unwieldy. And, STL cannot effectively utilize all the advances in multi-material printing. So, what else is there?
