Thomas Edison would have been impressed if he was alive today and could see what’s coming out of Kickstarter. Zombie Edison is impressed and wants your braaaaains. Some argue, Edison never invented to much – he just had the money to hire the right people (like Nicola Tesla) and get them to churn out ideas, cherry picking the best of them. Now instead of Edison we have Kickstarter. People, on their own volition, have been taking the risk of marketing their inventions on Kickstarter, who provide the platform and keep bad projects out and police fraud. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail. And they often succeed or fail for no discernible reason at all. Here are two awesome products, one doing great, the other not so.

Ten folds away from the edge we stopped. A forger had lit the beacon. Their shapes wouldn’t shift for long, but their numbers would increase. “On toward the edge!” I said. “We have but one shot with these links.” Vindictus – Not only is it a free, 3D co-op, multiplayer game, it has the badass…

When you saw Star Wars or Star Trek for the first time as a kid, the space travel scenes were pretty kickass. Especially on the big screen – it seemed way cooler than the so-so acting. Well here’s you’re chance to actually travel through the Universe – the real Universe as recorded by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Watch the filaments of stars and galaxies whiz around as you travel at a million times the galactic speed-limit. I may not have my warp capable Cadallac, but gosh darn it, I’ll take what I can get in this century. At least I’ll know what kind of ride I’d be getting.

What’s more fun than spending a few hours (days) building your very first 3D printer? Watching a videographic about those who have already built their first 3D printer (not really more fun). Stephen Murphey has put together this superb visualization of the survey results gathered by the “The Journal of Peer Production” in a global survey on the bulging growth of the 3D printing community. It’s snazzy and should be watch immediately.
