People People, the Swedish company behind the Modern Pocket Watch and Wearable IoT for Snickers Workwear, has successfully run a new crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter for their Small Wireless Transparent Speaker with Flic Button control. The new speaker features a glass case so you can see exactly how the drivers are all wired together to produce sound.
This isn’t the first endeavor from People People in transparent speaker design as the company released a larger version back in 2012 featuring a large 6.5-inch subwoofer and a pair of 3-inch full-range drivers. It also came with a larger price tag of $849 as opposed to their latest offering, which cost a mere $255 for campaign backers.
Peoples outfitted their new speaker with premium audio components, including custom-made 2.5-inch full-range drivers, a passive bass radiator and a built-in amplifier outfitted with an onboard DSP (Digital Signal Processor), all of which is packed into a transparent glass case with aluminum frame.
Bluetooth is also included in the small package, allowing you to connect your preferred audio player wirelessly and comes with a handy Flic button for playing, pausing and advancing your trax in a similar fashion to most in-line controllable headphones. People also designed the speaker to be modular so that it can be upgraded over time when new parts become available or when existing parts become damaged.
People also incorporated an interesting feature on the bottom of the case known as dock space, which features a secondary headphone jack (the first is featured on the face of the speaker), allowing you to connect an Amazon Echo Dot for voice control or even a Google Chromecast Audio device for multi-room streaming.
According to People, the whole shebang is designed almost entirely with materials that can be recycled over and over again, producing the same quality in each cycle. This is good news for the planet as it eliminates unnecessary e-waste.
While the Kickstarter campaign is over, those who want to get People’s Small Wireless Transparent Speaker will have to wait for them to fulfill their existing orders before others become available. However, you can purchase the larger version direct from People’s website.
