With so many cool things coming out each week, it can be hard to wade through all the rock-awesomeness. With ‘Cool Tools’, we’ve done the hard work for you.
This week we saw everything from quirky take on the upcoming Apple Watch, a much-needed update to the OS X Photos app, a 3D printed jet-powered snowboard and more…
Ready? Let’s go!
This week we look at:
DESIGN
“Beautifully designed power docking station provides a solid foundation for your iPhone and Apple Watch featuring a multifunctional Smart LED Lamp.”
“Meld upgrades your existing cookware and stove with automatic temperature control so every meal is perfect.”
APPS
“Sneakers: The Complete App is the encyclopaedic iPad app to sneaker culture and collecting. With over 500 shoe designs featured in depth, it is the indispensable reference for all sneaker fans.”
“Featuring an easy-to-use and streamlined design, Photos has been engineered from the ground up to help you keep your growing library organized and accessible. Powerful and intuitive editing tools help you perfect your images as well as create beautiful gifts for sharing. “
DIY
3D Printed Jet-Powered Snowboard
“You have probably seen snowboarders getting stuck in the flat parts of green runs and connecting paths while skiers skate past them. A snowboarder has two realistic options at this point: either completely bomb it down the approaching slope at dangerously high speeds or build a 3D printed electric jet-powered snowboard. I chose to do the latter.”
“When I set out to design the Apple II watch, I originally planned to create a faithful tiny replica of the classic machine in a wrist-sized form factor. While researching the design I began to ask if I really just wanted to make a miniature, or something altogether new? I settled on the latter.”
ROCK AWESOMENESS
Star Wars Space Slug Jack-in-the-Box
“Fans love Star Wars Celebration for many reasons: meeting their favorite Star Wars creators and actors, attending panels, and, of course…the exclusive merchandise! Brand new T-shirts, patches, art prints, and much more — including, finally, a Space Slug jack-in-a-box — will be available at Star Wars Celebration in Anahiem, April 16-19.”
“Adobe Character Animator tracks your facial movements, lets you record dialogue or a voice performance & enables you to trigger actions with your keyboard that give life to characters created in Illustrator CC or Photoshop CC.”
And there you have it!
