Last April, I was lucky enough to be contacted by the Discovery Channel (Canada) and have them put the spotlight on the DShape and the Rygo Project. I was unlucky enough to have suffered a bike accident a week before filming, so the bruiser and stitches above my eye make me look significantly gruffer and meaner than I really am. But I digress … I’d like to take the opportunity to broadcast a little gratitude for this project. this was a tough project and the video only covers half of it. Enrico, his brother and the rest of his team put an inordinate amount of work into printing the Rygo and I’m really grateful for their efforts.
Big 3D Printed Things on the Horizon

Right now there are some big things happening on the horizon for DShape. Neither Josh or I can say anything yet…but BIG is the operative word. Big thanks to Bathsheba for designing the Rygo and being generally awesome (met her a few weeks ago – it’s so strange to actually encounter someone face to face after a year of emailing). And of course, a massive thanks to all the many contributors to the campaigns (anyone received anything yet?), which include a number in my own family.
Ready, Set, MAKE
Alright – ’nuff said. I will be in New York to cover World Makerfaire. Any Solidsmackites going as well? There will be booths and lectures dealing with 3D Imaging, 3D Printing and Crowdfunding, and I’ll attend as many as I can . Did you know there is a whole category for “Tesla Coils“? So many people are using Tesla Coils that … they need their own… category! No major CAD companies coming this time (they splurged on the Bay Area MakerFaire in June I suppose) Yet according to Twitter, Sketchup will be there. So I certainly look forward to seeing what’s cooking there since Google sold it to Trimble.
