3dvia-virtools-5You know what you need sitting on your desk next to your copy of SolidWorks? A small animal deterrent? No, no, and definitely not an automatic, multi-flavor, ice cream maker.

Not sure what Virtools is or why you would want a free shirt?

Here’s a little info that may interest even the most crazed SolidWorks user or that unenthused 2D purist that sits in the corner biting his nails. wa-POW!!

What is VirTools?
3DVIA Virtools is a Dassualt Systeme platform to develop interactive 3D content. It helps you bring others into a more life-like 3D experience and . Here’s the Virtools demo showcase that displays some incredibly cool example of how 3D can be used online.

How does this apply to SolidWorks users?
…or other 3D CAD users for that matter? You can export your SolidWorks models as a .3DXML file and import it into Virtools, or send to a Virtools developer which they can use in creating interactive environments that customers or vendors can experience your product in.

Plus, with your model in the .3DXML format you can also bring it into 3DVIA online to share and view your stuff online. If you’ve used the .3DXML format for anything let us know in the comments. How is it being used?
