The latest update from the Fusion 360 crew has us pulling our sock over our knee-caps and throwing our hats in the air. There are a LOT of great new features like fillet weighting, part-level revision milestones, PCB hole placement via references, and more but our favorite is the ability to create text on a path (an arc, spline, circle, etc.) AND have it update if the path is changed. Text On Path If you’ve ever needed to take your text in Fusion 360 beyond one line for logos, labels, or other graphic features it’s been an exercise in workarounds but the Text On Path features changes everything. We had been on the lookout for a good workbench that checks off several requirements when we came across the Seville Classics Lighted Stainless Steel Workbench. This has 48″ x 24″ work area, pegboard, lighted work area, and an open area under the bench, so you can wheel in carts or bins and don’t have to mess with spiders and woodchips under a lower shelf. Seville Classics Stainless Steel Workbench – $247.28 We started looking for wood but were surprised to see the price on this stainless steel bench and 5-star rating from nearly 1000 buyers. Some bought it for wood shops, others for I.T. work, but many loved the…
With just 88 of them made worldwide, the Aston Martin V12 definitely fits the bill when it comes to rare cars. By combining elements from some of the car company’s most revered models and infusing them with aeronautical design, the Aston Martin V12 feels very much like the culmination of all their work built under today’s highest standards. Aston Martin V12 Speedster Under the hood, you’ve got your 5.2-liter, 48-valve, Twin-Turbo engine that puts out a whopping 700 horsepower and 753Nm torque. The engine connects to a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission with limited-slip differential driving for the rear wheels. When combined, these allow the Aston Martin V12 to reach speeds…
An incredible demonstration of the capabilities of belt 3D printers has been completed: a 20 foot (6-meter) long part has been produced. Karl Brown of NAK 3D Designs achieved this incredible feat on a pre-release version of the upcoming 3DPrintMill from Creality, likely as a demonstration of its capability. Belt 3D Printers Belt 3D printers are a new form of 3D printing that is quite different from conventional 3D printing. In belt 3D printing, the print surface continuously moves forward, effectively creating an axis of construction with infinite length. This allows the operator to produce very long objects, as was done in this demonstration, or a continuous series of individual…
I know you’ve been hankering for the return to the free exchange of bacteria and ideas with thousands of other SOLIDWORKS users but… it’ll have to wait — at least the bacteria part. You can share that with SOLIDWORKS friends in your own community and get together for a local 3DEXPERIENCE World experience to feel the fire-hose of knowledge hit your braincase. Yes, 3DEXPERIENCE World is going online. If you were at the last 3DEXPERIENCE World in Nashville it may have been your last onsite event before the world went nuts and countries cared enough to put a stranglehold on their citizens and economy. Now, thanks to the realization that…
The Domik Ptashki (Домик Пташки) is Russian for “bird’s house”. It also just happens to be the name of a birdhouse created by Russian design studio, Dydykin. After studying various natural nesting grounds, artificial birdhouses, and even consulting an ornithologist (“bird expert”), the studio settled on a hollow, egg-shaped, and very unique looking birdhouse. You might have noticed the Domik Ptashki isn’t brightly painted like some birdhouses you see in stores. The designers wanted the birdhouse to be as unintrusive among nature as possible. It doesn’t have any sharp edges, smells, or distracting even colors, but blends in and is tough enough to withstand strong weather changes and extreme temperatures…
