Today Wacom announced the Inkling, a new digital/ballpoint sketch pen that captures your real world sketches digitally for easy manipulation/refinement later. Say what? It digitizes your sketches so you can skip the scanner and go straight to work. Those familiar with the Livescribe note-taking pen will be familiar with the concept already, but this time, it is backed by Wacom, a company known for their drawing tablets, and geared directly at the sketchers of the world. I wasn’t initially impressed with the idea, but after digging through their press release and watching the video, I have to admit, I’d love to mess around with one. 10 pounds of dual screen laptop! ORDER UP. They’ve done it. GScreen, the Alaska-based hardware company, has finally announced a launched date for their screen-stretching LED backlit powerhouse. After two years of being taunted by photos and renderings, gScreen has named November as the month you will finally be able to take up two tables and a large sofa at the local coffee shop. Their gScreen Spacebook is hitting the web shelves with two impressive 17″ screens that not only collapse in on each other, but are both a full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution. The downside for you 3D modeling types is the NVIDIA GeForce 250M GPU. But who says you couldn’t just rip that sucker out and beef it up a little?
Why there’s nothing I quite like more than buttoning up the finest faux suede longcoat, donning my tophat and printing colorful componentry into the wee hours of the morning. There’s just something enjoyable about it that frightens people slightly. Part of that may be the amazing color assortment of plastic filament I have wrapped around my face. It’s all thanks to a wonderful new shop making the acquisition of such material a dream come true for plastic hacks and print shops alike. It’s the Faberdashery, a shop for the refined maker who delights in the wonders of 3D printing.
Earlier this week, in an amazing cavalcade of suspense, mystery and PR firm mailings, SpaceClaim slapped a little plus sign on their current release. SpaceClaim 2011+. Some say it has the features to reduce a hurricane from a category 3 to a category 2. (We’ll see this weekend if that is actually is true.) A few things it does actually have is fancy new sheetmetal and volume features. But more than that, SpaceClaim is gettin’ comfy with the phrase ‘world domination’ and they have PowerPoint slides to prove it. Hit it!
