When it comes to quality Hi-Fi speakers the phrase “shove it in the corner” doesn’t necessarily come to mind, but that’s exactly what Montreal-based Nepsu wants you to do with their Triangle Hi-Fi speaker. Actually, the speaker can be placed almost anywhere, however a corner provides that extra boost for a corner loading effect that will help amplify the sound by an extra 9 dB.

Nepsu designed the Triangle with customization in mind. Options include different colored, magnetic faceplates (9 all together), choice of acoustic cloth and choice of case color and, of course, power cables. Suffice it to say, the Triangle can be matched with just about any décor imaginable. And what of the power cable hanging down? Well, they’ve cleverly marketed it as embracing “the power cable’s elegance with your creativity” by creating your own work of art incorporating the speaker and the power cable with various decals and wire art available soon in their store. So it’s customizable, but what about the sound?

Jonathan Villeneuve, Co-founder of Nepsu and Product Designer, says, “the main goal was to conceive a speaker as aesthetically pleasing as functional in tiny home spaces with a strong focus on sustainability. One of the main challenge was to make make a highly personalisable product made for mass production.”

With urban populations rising, better use of smaller spaces was an important consideration. Though the design takes flexibility and aesthetics into account, the design is purely about efficiency–using wasted space to integrate a sound system that becomes part of the room.

The Triangle is also a multi-room wireless speaker as well, allowing users to stream their music over their connection of choice–Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA and APTX technology are all supported. Nearly all streaming services are supported as well, including Spotify, Soundcloud, Pandora, Tidal and many more.

Through the Nepsu app, users can stream the same song across different speakers simultaneously, with support for up to five speakers total, and located in any number of different rooms. The speaker is also equipped with a removable microphone that can be used for hands-free phone calls and features an auto-answer function allowing users to continue with their tasks without interruption.

Nepsu’s Triangle is currently wrapping-up a successful crowd-funding campaign on Indigogo, raking in over $78,000 of their $75,000 target price. Those interested can either hurry over to their Indiegogo campaign and pledge $249 for a single Triangle and $458 and up for multiple speakers, which includes power supply, wall mount and options battery charger to go mobile. Those who missed the Indigogo campaign can check with Nepsu’s website for updates on availability.
