Creating life-sized objects out of LEGOs is nothing new – but creating life-sized LEGO objects that actually work?
Now we’re talking.
Love Hulten, a Swedish designer, craftsman and innovator who focuses on fusing modern technology with traditional artisan craft, has recently created the Brix System; a collection of hand crafted modular devices that are custom made from wood and resemble actual LEGO pieces. In fact, the conceptual collection consists of eight actual 6:1 scale versions of iconic LEGO bricks that are each functional as modern devices.
Produced, polished, and assembled from Ash by Hultén himself at his one-man studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, the collection is inspired by the classic LEGO box art from the “Legoland Space” era – with each object in the Brix System matching an object from within the photo.

“Like most people, I was raised by Lego,” said Hultén.
“For this project, I chose to work with a set of decorated bricks from the iconic 79-87 “Legoland Space” line, mainly because of nostalgic reasons. These were bricks that would trigger my imagination as a kid. 25 years have passed, and they still trigger.”
For all those years of wishing we could push those painted plastic buttons on actual LEGO toys, this more than makes up for it:
