For the most part, everyday objects such as toothbrushes, spoons, hairdryers and hair combs are used exactly as they were designed for. Yet – thanks to a number of tv shows and Hollywood films ranging from MacGyver to Mystery Men, we’ve seen time and time again how traditional objects can just as easily be used as a weapon.

Between the bike pedals used by Jason Statham in Transporter to the afro picks used by Eddie Griffin in Undercover Brother, it would appear that nearly anything can be used as a tool in self-defense – at least in Hollywood.

But aside from the entertainment value, the choice of object used (and how it’s used) is certainly one of the most entertaining exercises in nontraditional design thinking – particularly ergonomics.

Thanks to the fellas over at Burger Fiction, we now have a supercut of some of the most improbable weapons in the history of cinema – including the aforementioned bike pedals and afro picks. Unsurprisingly, the Gopher-Chuks from Kung Pow: Enter the Fist make an appearance, too.

What improbable weapon might you use in your immediate vicinity right now if you had to get yourself out of a pickle?
