There are a lot of silly things you can strap to your feet. but when it comes to saving someone’s life, there’s nothing silly about strapping on plastic booties with extendable ‘blades.’

It’s just the concept Edward Shelton of Oxford, UK came up with for his final year project at Loughborough University. Ed developed the Amphibian to aid lifeguards during the beach rescue process. The design was developed and tested with assistance from the Royal National Lifeboat Association (RNLI). Design Blade. Extend Blade. Save Life. Here’s more.

What did you use for modeling the Amphibian Rescue Fins?
I used Solidworks for the 3D Modeling for the fins shoes.

Why did you choose that 3D product to develop the idea?
I have tried out most of the mainstream packages and in my opinion SolidWorks offers the best balance of technical capability, accessibility and cost effective price (and of course you can take parts from concept to tooling within the same package).

What did you use for the rendering
For the visualisations i use 3D Studio max.
