One reason why I like SolidWorks is because it’s very easy to put a design idea together. It’s a great tool, but creating something out of pure inspiration is a lot of fun. I find a lot of things that inspire me and Sternform is the most recent. They take some very simple ideas, create a design and come out with a very cool and highly functional product.
Their latest product is the 90-90 shelf light for Pling Collection and it doesn’t get much simpler than that. Now, I’m not sure what they use to design their ideas, but it’s a great example of how you can take your idea and turn it into something functional. Keep going with your ideas. You never know what could happen.

SolidSmack is a very small behemoth of an online community about 3D CAD, technology, design, robots, and ninjas… Ok, maybe not ninjas so much, but those guys are COOL so there just might be something about some dang ninjas.

Check out this invention: http://www.idonline.com/features/feature.asp?id=1599 Talk about simple and highly functional design. It’s a regular looking toothbrush that redirects water from your faucet for easy rinsing.
