SolidJott: The Second Coming – An Add-in Among Us

by Josh on December 14, 2008 · View Comments

SolidWorks users. You are in for a treat. A free add-in treat for SolidWorks.

A couple weeks ago SolidJott hit the scene aiming to get your questions and issues answered fast, online. Today they are announcing that it’s available inside SolidWorks.

Direct access to the collective brainpower of SolidWorks users worldwide baby. Best of all, it’s absolutely free and available for download here (796kb .zip)

What does it do?
It’s quick. It’s convenient. You type a short question about an issue you’re having, submit it and everyone else immediately sees it. You can comment and rate other people’s questions. It’s a lightweight add-in that allows you to interact with SolidWorks users without having to leave your work or your issues. No flipping between windows. No phone calls.

Future Features
This add-in is actively being developed. Future features include:

  1. A button to send a screen capture from SolidWorks to the post you are writing
  2. A button that will ‘Pack and Go’ the model you have open and send it to the post

Try it out. Let everyone know if you like it or if it needs improvements.

  • TX80
I installed it and it keeps pulling up C++ editor for no reason. I had to uninstall it.
  • I must say this about the SolidJott Add-in. If you do not download it and install it, you are missing out on the easiest access to getting your questions answered. I now view SolidJott as the Disqus of Solidworks.
