We’re always talking about the future of design, the future of technology, the future of MAKING. In a world where auto-balance bikes can teach kids how to ride without training wheels, a world where heat signatures can turn any surface into a touchscreen…how do we find the next ‘big thing’? MakerGalaxy is a show that explores the crossroads of Design, Technology, and the Future of Making

This week we talked with architect and founding partner of the firm Family, Mr. Dong Ping Wong. Dong and his partner have been in the news as of late after creating a plus-sign shaped pool by the name of +Pool that will float in New York City’s East River.

We’ll talk with Dong about everything from how he got his start as an architect in Los Angeles, how he came up with the +Pool concept, where he finds inspiration when diving into new projects, and more.

We’ll Be Discussing:

  • Where can we find the best Mexican food in NYC?
  • On becoming an architect in New York
  • Designing, testing, and launching the +Pool
  • On design inspiration
  • On launching ideas

To find out more about Dong-Ping Wong, Family, or the +Pool head over to PlusPool.org. Dong-Ping will also be speaking at the upcoming Core77 Conference in Brooklyn, NY on June 19th, 2014.
