Use to be, for a little ambiance, we just needed a time-travelling legwax salesman to unbutton the top two-buttons of his disco shirt… WAIT a minute, that would be the opposite of ambiance. That would be the 5th most uncomfortable situation imaginable. If you want ambiance, you need to check out this model created by Tamas Jager, who apparently designs tube benders and pizza oiling stations when he’s not designing uber-cool wall lighting.

Tamas has created a simple 3d model for a wall mounted light design that combines sleek and modern with a dash of brilliant. The circular ring light is designed to mount in a corner, around a corner or on a wall, lit up with two LED light strips on the inner wall of the ring. It comes in three sections allowing you to mount it in a 90°, 180° or 270° orientation, clipped to mounting plates that attach to the wall.

Although I think the wall attachment and joining method should be worked out, the basic structure is there and flexible enough to use as a wired installation or as intended with battery-powered LED Strip lights. He has included both 90° and 270° versions in multiple formats: SolidWorks, CATIA, Solid Edge, PTC Creo, STEP, Parasolid and KeyShot. Save out an .stl, snag some LED light strips and you’re on your way.

You can download the files on GrabCAD, print or modify, and have a little more ambiance in your living room/kitchen/shed by the weekend! (Bonus! Watch how to cut, connect and power LED strip lighting here!)
