SolidWorks Launches 2009 SP1.0 Right Into Your Face

solidworks-2009-sp1It’s not everyday, you get to download an upgrade to a new version of software you use almost everyday… actually, you could download this everyday if you wanted to. Maybe wrap it in a croissant, share it with some friends and talk about the good ol’ days when you had to install software off a floppy disk.

You can get the tasty nugget of bug-depleted installation at your local SolidWorks Salon and Candy portal.

For many, you’ve been waiting for SP1.0 to come out to upgrade from the bane of your 2008 experience. Are you going for it? huh, huh are ya?

  • Dude, it's not nice. You're just taunting people. Did you do it? Was 2008 the bane of your existence? Glad to report that for the first time in maybe years, the installation manager. It did threaten me to download an extra 1.7 GB if I did another subscription post, but I think it's just an empty threat, I got by with a mere 500 MB download!
  • Alas, 2008 was an enjoyable experience for me, but I know it caused a lot of pain for others. Not that the interface will be a little more familiar, it should be a little easier to adjust. we went from 07 to 09 where I work and I've had good response about all of it.

I did the admin Image update and had to do the whole 1.7GB :( - it's updating now though, so no problems so far.
  • Yikes, we haven't even received our '09 discs from our VAR yet. Not that we'd have migrated by now anyway. :/

I usually wait for the first SP to install, this seams unusually quick. I got my DVD's a week ago and now the pressure is on for me to update, I'm excited and scared all at the same time.
