It’s new and shiny and doesn’t hurt, plus…

  • The conversation is happening there
  • You find out stuff before anyone else
  • You have access to people you normally wouldn’t
  • I’ve meet a lot of people and a lot of users
  • I’ve found new CAD related and Blogs (see below)

It’s pretty amazing when you can talk with someone you’ve never meet and suddenly feel like you know them.

I’ve been able to hear about someone as they travel from the US to Israel, here about a photomob develop at Google’s web2.0 booth, see people discussing SolidWork tips, and get invites to closed betas – Pretty cool stuff. You just don’t realize the relationships that can develop out there either. I’m hoping to meet a lot of people I’ve had conversations with since being on.

Additionally, it becoming a resource. I’ve just started tagging all SolidWorks tips I give out and there’s plenty of talk about news that’s happening.

So, if you’re interested, follow me @solidsmack. Say hi, tell me where you’re from and if you like .

Tools that make more fun

  • Nice Josh. Posts like this will help twitter cross over into the mainstream, instead of being just a bunch of programmers talking about what they had for lunch (jk).
  • Hi Josh,

Nice post, I really appreciated the links to various twitter tools. I just downloaded twhirl! I'll be checking it out today.

  • Ok, I am officially addicted to Twitter. I agree that twittering with other Solidworks users is very useful. I now have contact with persons whom I can tap for information or another viewpoint concerning Solidworks in an instant. I also enjoy the casual conversations flowing by. So, I give Twitter a 10/10 rating and encourage all Solidworks users to get an account and start following the other SW users that are out there.
  • Thanks Rod! I totally agree. It's odd, but it's exactly what a community is envisioned as. people connected, not so much as to be annoying :), but enough to create closer relationships and help each other out. glad you're on there!
