You like free stuff? I though you might. You can now get Camtasia Studio 3.1.3 absolutely free and record all the computer screen goodness you want. Create video tutorials, zoom, pan, then share on a site like Vimeo.

Here’s the simple 3 step process.

  1. Download the software from here (28.3MB).
  2. Go to this page and register for a Software Key.
  3. Install the software and put in your key.

What’s even better? You can upgrade to Camtasia Studio 5 for $149.00. The regular price is $299.00. Compare the versions here.

You should also checkout the Jing Project.

This is a REALLY great program. I am a little annoyed because I had purchased the previous version then did the upgrade… and now they offer a deal like this :-(

CAMStudio is very similar and is totally free. It doesn't have the Producer functionality but the recording functionality is a wash. You can download it here:

Good point Jeff. I've been using that. I'm going to try this out and see if the extra functionality is useful. I like being able to pan and zoom, especially when showing things in SolidWorks.
