5,000 lbs of SolidWorks 2010 Ham Hot From the Oven

by Josh on October 19, 2009 · View Comments

Get your silicon mitts on boys and girls, SolidWorks 2010 has been precooked, sizzled, put out for garnish and is now… available… for… DOWNLOAD.

Of course, this is taking everyone by surprise. A new version? of SolidWorks? Mid-October-ish? UNHEARD OF. Lucky for you, a bunch of bloggers got a one-week jump on the press and have reviewed SolidWorks 2010.

You can download SP0.0 here right now.

After using it, my opinion… 2010 came out cleaner than a glazed ham and mighty tasty ta boot. So are you downloading or waiting for SP5.1?

I practically have to wait 'til 5.1, since SW'10 breaks HyperShot functionality. I hate doing dual-version installations, but it's a must have right now.

So, I guess I can still go download it, but won't be able to run full throttle in 2010 hipness…

I am in the process of downloading it right now. I am the only user so it is a real easy upgrade for me. Lots of shiny newness for me. That is if this slow dsl connection here could ever finish the download. May end up downloading it at home and bringing it here to install.

So it should be functioning properly by June of 2010.

OOOOOooo, and there it is. :) Make me wonder when most people actually upgrade to a new version, especially this year with Windows 7 coming out. a poll maybe?

Been running windows 7 for several months here with 2009 and 2010 PR 1, and the Betas. LOVE it.

That's good to hear. I, and I'm sure others are wondering. With moving a mid-size company that deals with other companies using SolidWorks it quickly becomes a timing issue with compatibility. I'd like to get total upgrades going next month, but it will likely be at the beginning of the new year.

5000 lbs of glazed ham… prepin' those taste buds fer Thanksgivin' are ya? The only thing better than that is my wife's American and I'm Canadian so I get double the goodness (and double recovery)

I'd love to upgrade to 2010 much sooner than later. With the high standard of SP0.0 cleanliness would you say that users who typically wait for SP2 or 3 can upgrade right away with minimal difficulty?

ok, you guys might have too much time on your hand. :)

ahhh yeah! you know it. you get just enough time in between to recover a little too. I would upgrade on SP0 but have to coordinate it with other companies we work with so, it will probably end up being later.

I do recommend getting a test computer to install on to see if there are any big issues that pop up with what you do.
