The SolidSmack Cool Tools of Doom n’ Stuff is GO. This short video features some of the coolest finds we’ve discovered on the web this week.

This week we look at:

DESIGN
Silk Pavilion – The Silk Pavillion designed by MIT’s Mediated Matter group is made from a CNC’d template in which 6500 silkworms were released to produce an entire silk-cloud structure using ‘natural’ 3D printing. Check it out next time you stroll by the MIT campus.

Terra 1012 Terrariums – The Terra 1012 terrariums are our favorite terrariums of the week. Yes, this line of uber-minimal glass cases from Japan are designed to highlight the plants and the roots for those who appreciate a little greenery. Pick up a pre-composed terrarium or just a case to create your own at 1012.stores.jp

APPS
BONDSY – Well, it’s garage sale season folks, and we all know what that means: people are trying to get rid of tons of crap. With BONDSY, you can post all the stuff you’re trying to get rid of onto your profile, and only friends and friends of friends will have access to contacting you. In a nutshell–BONDSY allows you to barter with people you know….keeping Stranger Danger at bay. Available for free on iTunes.

Drive Awake – And now our favorite useless/unuseless app of the week: Drive Awake is the new app from Cafe’ Amazon that keeps you from falling asleep on those interstate road trips. Through placing your phone on a dashboard mount, the app keeps track of your drowsy eyes and directs you to the nearest Cafe Amazon with the first sign of sleep. Also available for free on iTunes.

DIY
Laser Pointer – You need a new laser pointer! THE RED DOT! I Can’t…..stop…..staring. And with this new instructable from user Pinomelean, you can create…yes,YOU…your very own laser pointer. With just a few cheap electronic supplies and a 9-volt battery, you can become your cat’s (or Smoth’s) new best friend. Check it out on Instructables.

Vacuum Former – Vacuum Forming. So much fun. With this DIY project from Volpin Props, you can create your own Vacuum forming station on the cheap featuring guide rails, a power switch, and it’s own heating element from a re-purposed toaster oven. Get your vacuum form on today and head over to VolpinProps.blogspot.com to get the full instructions.

ROCK AWESOMENESS
DomiCopter – The DomiCopter is the pizza delivery drone revealed by Dominos Pizza this week. Ahhhhh! Yes, this eight-bladed drone is taking pizza delivery to all-new heights with the ability to pass over traffic jams, stop lights, and bad Apple map directions. Publicity stunt or not, check out the video on YouTube to watch a delivery in action.

MusGuard – And finally, the Musguard by Niko Klansek is our favorite rollable, removable bike fender of the week. Yes, weighing it at 35 grams and with the ability to fit in your pocket, this polypropylene fender will not only protect your backside from all those annoying rain puddles, but also give you bike fender street cred. Check out the awesome Kickstarter video and get yours for $25 on Kickstarter.
