Hello! if you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the SolidSmack RSS feed or to the free email updates. Thanks for visiting!
I am originally from Illinois.
I currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my wife Maggie and our brand spankin’ new baby Sebastian. but before that we lived in Switzerland, San Antonio, and Austin, Texas. Before that we lived in the piney woods of Longview, Texas where we went to school at LeTourneau University and, incidentally, where we also met. See our personal blog here - www.joshandmaggie.com
I started using SolidWorks in 1996
That date looks way old. Thanks to a great boss who let me take off with it (thanks Paul) I started helping out getting it implemented throughout the company. I got the university to pick it up also as a class where I taught it. After that, Maggie and I got married, we moved to Austin where I went to work for MLC Cad Systems, a (the best) SolidWorks Reseller. Awesome team. This is where I really honed my skills, got all my certification stuff, learned how to not throw-up before talking in front of people and prepare for demos till 3 in the morning. Fun times.
After that I was seduced by the wonder of the VIP aircraft interiors industry. All along the way involved in implementing, developing processes, and using SolidWorks. I currently work with Executive Aircraft Completion in Tulsa where I work with a great team and also push the envelope in 3D design while using a great product to design and engineer some really cool stuff.
Beyond that I stay pretty busy stretching out a 1 year renovation of our 1973 Spanish Ranch style house to 3 years and taking care of Sebastian.
What am I interested in?
Well, thanks for asking. I like web design, layout, tattoo art, drums, skateboarding, architecture, jazz music, hardcore music, drawing, painting, cooking, jumping off stuff, good Thai movies and good Thai food.
What it came down to…
All through my work experience I was constantly confronted with people’s resistance to change. Needless to say, it strangely inspired me, which is why I decided to start this. SolidSmack just doesn’t deal with Solid modeling, it’s about getting inspired about something. Anything. For me it’s about pushing myself to discover new ways and technology to help people. Not that the old doesn’t always work, it’s just crazy what can happen by just having a little better attitude about the possibilities.
