The Future of Interface Design

Ever wonder where software developers (eh-hmm) and the technology elite get their ideas for interface design?

It may very well be the last episode of Battlestar Galatica or James Bond. It’s no secret sci-fi has been an inspirational motif of futuristic possibilities, but the guy behind a lot of it may be the one to credit… or blame.

Mark Coleran has been developing unique visual interfaces for the movie industry and television. He takes his ideas of future technology and turns it into an amazing visual feast.

His interfaces have been featured in movies such as The Island, Mr and Mrs Smith, The World is Not Enough, The Bourne Identity, and many more. Here’s a video that shows how far beyond blinking lights this has gone. HD version here.

This post reminds of Jeff Han's multi-touch screen:

which Neiman Marcus is now selling in their Christmas wish list this year at a mere $100,000:

hey, no doubt. I actually did a post on Jeff's multi-touch a little while ago. It would be sweet to use for digital prototyping, although you may get tired after a hour of stand. I bet we would all have really developed upper torsos though.
