Hello! if you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the SolidSmack RSS feed or to the free email updates. Thanks for visiting!

I’ve had a poll up for a couple months to see when you plan on upgrading to SolidWorks 2008. It was started during pre-release and SP 0.1 is the latest Service Pack. To date, there’s been 151 responses and it seems close between those that already have upgraded and those waiting for bugs to be worked out. Here’s the breakdown.
25% Already Have
24% after bugs are worked out
12% After more testing
11% At SP 0.0
11% Haven’t decided
9% After client upgrades
8% Not upgrading
6% Other
The “Other” included:
on completion of major project in 2007
when management wakes up
When the boss says I can…
PROBABLY SP1 OR SP2
when the budget will allow for the hdwr upgrades
After the first of the year
AFTER SP1
At the end of the year, with CAMWorks 08 & Esprit 08 in the production areas.
Current plans are January ‘08 due to workload
Pretty interesting and probably not to far off from how it usually goes with new version upgrades. I’m still in the stages of testing and have found a need for graphic card upgrades. I’m finding there’s a lag in menu displays and occasional clipping of the model. This is on nVidia Quadro FX 1300, 1400, and 1500.
