10 Ways to Make Money with SolidWorks

dollars Have you ever wondered what people out there do with SolidWorks or what the possibilities are?

Well, here’s some kind of unusual ways of making money with SolidWorks that may give you ideas about what you could do or get in to. These are things that I and others have done in the past and some I’ve thought of recently.

Design lights for a metal working shop
Create concept models and prototypes for inventors
Consult with a VIP aircraft interiors company
Do layouts for a welding shop
Create flat patterns for a sheet metal shop
Create Technical Illustration for a small manufacturer or tech pub
Make 3D icons for a Media group
Create 3D designs for a screen printer
Make fly through layouts for a city planning group
Create 3D models for TV advertising group

A lot of these go along with my interest in industrial design and web design. Some of these may also interest some of ya’ll in college that are wondering what kind of possibilities there are with SolidWorks. This is just a small taste really. And heck, you may even be able to start your own company doing some of this stuff.

Love the ideas on how to make money with SolidWorks. I only have a student version that I am learning so I can teach the youngsters in our school district as a volunteer teacher. At least this discussion gives me some ammo to fire at them about the possibilities. Thanks.

I agree. There are no limits to what can be done with this software.

I love this site. I think it is great. I am 3D modeler of two years now, and have SW 2008 at home. I would like to start doing some of this stuff freelance but I have no idea where to even start looking where work like this would be. I dilly dally on my off days and would like to get paid for it. I live in a small town with a population of about 40,000 in the county. I cant do it full time but would like to make a little extra spending cash.

I'm in the same boat with you 3d. My interests are so varied, I'd love to be able to make a little extra money while having fun (And learning new ways to trick SW into doing what i want, even when it wants to do it the easy way)

yes this is a good idea..me too want t o make money through swks. i do solid modeling and camera view animations..and i am an arts too. i love to do this seriously...and give me more detail about this
